2024 HTLC Details

Less than one week remains until we meet together in Ashland, Oregon! We would like to take this opportunity to let you know how grateful we are that you will be a part of this gathering and to share a few things that might help you prepare for your arrival. All events will be held in the Stevenson (Student) Union on the campus of Southern Oregon University at 1118 Siskiyou Blvd in Ashland, Oregon 97520. If you are planning to print out the Session Schedule before arriving, you may want to wait until the final few days before the conference as small changes may occur between now and then.

Thursday Afternoon Welcome Reception

We will host a casual welcome reception Thursday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Elmo’s (inside the Stevenson Union). This will be a lovely chance to get to know each other and establish conference connections before sessions begin on Friday. Wine, beer, and light refreshments will be available.

Plenaries (9:00 a.m. Friday, Saturday, and 11:20 a.m. Sunday)

Our planning committee has invited seven Special Guests to share their expertise and perspectives on holistic education through a variety of plenary formats, including lunch presentations.

Fireside Chats: We have set aside 40 minutes and comfortable spaces on Saturday afternoon for more intimate discussions with our Special Guests. You will have the opportunity to sit in, share perspectives, and ask questions.

Special Event: Campus Theme Talk (Optional)

Location: Meese Auditorium

Date: Friday (4/19) 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm

Dr. Jack Miller will be offering a special presentation at Southern Oregon University’s Campus Theme Talk on “Flourishing.”

All-Conference Dinner

On Saturday evening (4/20) from 5:30 p.m to 6:30 p.m. we will host our conference dinner in the Rogue River Room of the Stevension (Student) Union.

Arts Night Celebration (Optional)

After Saturday dinner, please be part of the Arts Night Celebration in Elmo’s from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., in a casual setting where we can visit and enjoy each other’s talents (this continues a lively tradition from the Holistic Learning Conference in Ontario, CANADA!). We will have a ‘stage’ area, piano, and sound system for songs, music, poems, a story, or a dance. We mention this now in case you have anything you might like to bring or prepare for this occasion. Sign ups for anything you may wish to share will be available. Beverages and appetizers will be provided.

Physical Integration (Optional)

On Friday (4/19), Saturday (4/20), and Sunday morning (4/21) from 7:45 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., Tsipora Claudia Berman will offer opportunities for intentionally integrating our physical selves into our HTLC experience. You may want to bring your yoga mat and appropriate apparel and participate in combinations of physical activities such as yoga, meditation, movement, and beauty of nature exercises.

Parking

On the HTLC website, click on Travel and Accommodations for a map of campus that shows the ONLY parking area on campus where you will not be ticketed. It is Lot 36, highlighted yellow, on the map. Street parking (Mountain Street) may also be available and, unless marked, there are no restrictions to street parking.

The registration/check-in area will be in the lobby of the Stevenson (Student) Union building from 3:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Thursday and 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. Please visit this area upon arrival to sign-in and receive your name badge. The table will be staffed starting at 7:45 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
