Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Micro-Credential
The SEL Micro-Credential at Southern Oregon University provides multiple pathways for students and community members to develop proficiency in facilitating Social Emotional Learning in classrooms, counseling, coaching, parenting, and other educational contexts. Unlike traditional academic degrees, micro-credentials provide accessible and affordable opportunities to develop and apply skills aligned with their personal interests, career needs and professional goals. Micro-Credentials can be earned by completing 12 credits through either academic coursework or community based workshops. Learners who successfully complete the micro-credential receive a digital badge which allows them to document their accomplishment for current or future employers.
SEL MICRO-CREDENTIAL PATHWAYS
Pathway 1: Academic Coursework
Degree seeking students at either the undergraduate or graduate level may earn the SEL micro-credential by completing three required courses along with one or two electives. Students interested in pursuing the micro-credential should contact Dr. William Greene at greenew@sou.edu.
Pathway 2: Community Based Workshops
Students, working professionals and community members may also earn the micro-credential by participating in a series of 1 credit workshops offered either in-person or online via Zoom. Workshops do not require that you be admitted as a degree seeking student from SOU.
