Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is Holistic Education?

Holistic education is concerned with connections in human experience – connections between mind and body, between linear thinking and intuitive ways of knowing, between individual and community, and between the personal self and the transpersonal self. ~ Jack Miller

When is the 2024 Holistic Teaching and Learning Conference (HTLC)?

We will be hosting our 2024 International Holistic Teaching & Learning Conference, 4:00 pm, Thursday, April 18th  through 12:30 pm, Sunday, April 21st, 2024. Mark your calendars!

About our Mailing List

Please email us at htlconference@sou.edu to remain, be removed, or be added to our mailing list.

How much will registration fees be for the conference?

Early Bird Registration is $300 and General Registration will be $350. Late Registration (after April 1st) will be priced at $380.

Are costs covered for presenters?

Unfortunately, the Center for Holistic Education will not be providing compensation for conference presenters. We are a grassroots organization and use conference registration payments to support the HTLC. All presenters will be expected to register by submitting the appropriate conference fee through the Registration link on our website.

We will be reviewing and allocating certain categories of reduced registration based on a review by our committee of needs-based requests. Send htlconference@sou.edu a short explanation of why you are applying for a discount in a separate email.

What type of sessions will be offered:

As we have in past HTLC events, we will strive to blend sessions: plenary (everyone), breakout (choose between several offerings), and integrative (smaller interactive groups). Breakout sessions may be an experiential, roundtable presentation, or poster presentation. Other integrative activities will be announced. More details will be sent with the Call for Proposal email. Please see below.

When will I know who is presenting?

The list of Featured Presenters and Presenters of break-out sessions appear on the conference home page of the website.

When will I know more about the program?

On March 8th a tentative program schedule will appear on the website after submitted Proposals have been accepted and organized.

Are the proposals through a peer-review process?

All proposals are peer reviewed. A group of dedicated HTLC organizers read and review every proposal. Proposals are considered based upon the elements outlined in the Call for Proposals.

Can I earn academic credit for attending sessions at the conference?

Yes. You can earn (1-2) undergraduate or graduate course credit for full conference attendance. If interested, notify us prior to the conference at: (htlconference@sou.edu). You will then be able to use the information that will be provided to decide about academic credit. We will also be offering Professional Development Units (PDUs) in the form of a certificate of participation.

Will there be online offerings for this conference?

We are planning a full in person conference. If any further questions regarding virtual options occur, please email us at htlconference@sou.edu.
